time 2 PRAISE GOD
Have you ever asked yourself or somebody else the questions, WHEN am I supposed to praise God? WHAT is the right time to give glory to the Lord? HOW do I praise God? WHO can come to God and offer the sacrifice of praise?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
If you’ve ever asked any of these questions and have searched to know the answer, GOD’s WORD is the BEST answer book!Ecclesiastes 3.1-8 tells us that there’s a time for all things. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot… a time to weep and a time to laugh… a time to speak and a time to be silent… …and the list goes on – but it never mentions a time to praise. That doesn’t mean that we’re not supposed to praise God. Throughout the Bible we are told to praise Him. Let’s see what Psalm 113.3 says about the ‘time’ to praise: …From the rising of the sun, to the place where it sets, the Lord’s Name is to be praised. From sunrise to sunset, from morning to night – in other words, the time to praise God is: ALL THE TIME!
“All the time…” you might say, “How can I possibly praise Him al the time? I have to eat three meals a day, I’ve got school and homework to do, I have two full-time jobs to keep up with… How can I praise God all the time and do all my work, too?”
Too many times so many people have gotten the wrong idea about praise. It isn’t just about raising your hands and singing “Glory, Hallelujah” – although those are both very important, very scriptural acts of worship. But anybody can do those things and not be praising God one bit. We have to understand this one thing: Praise is an attitude, not a motion. Praise must be offered to God from the heart, not the head. Perhaps you can’t raise your hands all day long and do all your other tasks, too. But you can allow the attitude of praise to remain fresh in your heart throughout the day.
This brings us to our next point: How do I praise God? First of all let’s look at what God’s Word has to say about “How to praise.” Psalm 145.3 Great is the Lord and worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. This verse is saying to praise God for His greatness. He is an awesome God. So honour Him and thank Him for His power.
Philippians 4.8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
Living a holy, consecrated life for God is pleasing to Him. it shows that you love Him so much that you want to be like Him. Living a life-style of Godliness is an attitude of praise.
The Word of God also says in Hebrews 11.6 that Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those that earnestly seek Him.
So living a life-style of FAITH is another example of praising God. God is a faith God and He desires His children to be faith children.
Be thankful to God for everything. Thank Him for the food that you eat, and the water you drink. Praise Him for the air you breathe, the clothes on your back, and the shelter over your head… for the sun to light your day and the moon to light your night. Be thankful for His love and redemption for you.
Praise Him! PRAISE HIM! PRAISE HIM!!
Who can come to God and offer the sacrifice of praise?
Psalm 117.1 says Praise the Lord all you nations, Extol Him all you people. God desires for His whole creation to praise Him. This passage says for ALL nations and people to glorify Him. Psalm 100.1 says to Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth! The message is clear: All creation is to praise the Lord!
So remember to keep the attitude of praise in your heart. Remember to thank Him for all He has provided for you. And most of all, remember that it’s…
