God is searching
for something. His heart relentlessly
searches to be able to demonstrate His Covenant love and power – to show Himself strong – but He cannot unleash
His divine assistance on just anyone, anywhere…
He is looking for a heart that’s pure, a heart that will follow and stick with Him and His
Word no matter what – His eyes search tirelessly for someone whose heart is fully committed to Him. The realization
of total fulfillment and total satisfaction, and seeing the power and glory of God continually demonstrated in our life, comes
to those whose heart is fully committed, fully devoted to Him.
We must become FULLY DEVOTED in order to obtain His Best.
The King James Version of II Chr. 16.9 reads
“….to them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” To have a “perfect heart”
towards God means to have a complete heart or a whole heart. If something is complete or whole means that
it is not divided or disunited in anyway.
The best way I have come to understand this concept is through the following phrase the Lord spoke into
my spirit a number of years ago – To be of ONE MIND, and ONE HEART with GOD.
That is having a perfect heart, or a heart that is fully committed to Him.
When you are of ONE MIND and ONE HEART with GOD, there will
never be a separation of your will and His.
But instead, what He wants and He desires will become such a part of you that there will not be
any question what you should say or what you should do in any situation. His thoughts and desires will
be so much your own that when you act and when you speak it will be God Himself acting and speaking through you.
Fullness of life is experienced only when
we give ourselves fully to what God desires, and place our love and devotion for Him above all else. Not
only do we place our love and devotion for God as our utmost priority, but also much more should we place His love, His devotion
and commitment to us above all things.
When we allow His love for us to become so dear and so precious, we will place that love above everything
else, it will come to mean more to us than anything. And when that happens, the most
painful thing in the world would not be the circumstances we experience – but it would be to be of a different heart
than Him.
The heart-cry of one who is
desperately in love with God is to be one heart and one mind with Him at all times. To be otherwise is
a bitter experience. Being of one heart with the Father does not mean that we will always get everything
right. But it does mean that we walk in obedience to the Lord, from a willing heart, and that our aim and
heartfelt desire is to follow after His heart, His directives at all times.
In the prayer of King Hezekiah it is said, “ Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked
before You in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done what was good in your sight.” II Kings
20.3
At this time, Hezekiah was
very sick and near death. The prophet had just told him to get his house in order because
he was about to die. Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord this prayer.
This in itself signifies his devotion to the Lord. He could have turned to someone else or he could
have just succumbed to this fate – after all, it was the prophet of God that spoke it, but he chose to place the love
and devotion of God above the circumstances that were staring him in the face.
He knew his walk with God, and he knew His God. He knew he had walked in truth
and integrity before the Lord, he knew he had a heart for God and had done what was good and obedient in His sight.
He hadn’t been seeking to do his own way. He had sought God’s ways with all his heart.
II Kings 18.3,5-7 records, “And he
[Hezekiah] did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had
done. He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of
Judah, nor who were before him. For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following
Him but kept His commandments, which He had commanded Moses. The Lord was with him; he prospered
wherever he went.”
This
man’s heart was fully committed to his God. And because of that, the Lord did show Himself strong
on his behalf. No sooner had he finished his prayer, until the Word of the Lord came to him again and said,
“….I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third
day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.” After that, the Lord added fifteen years to
his life and delivered his enemies into his hands.
God will do no less to anyone whose heart and life are fully devoted to Him. His eyes
search for such a one – so that He can pour out His goodness, pour out His power, pour out His deliverance, pour out
His provision, without limit, like His heart burns to do.
Our place of total fulfillment , total satisfaction, and Heaven on earth is wrapped up in our pursuit,
our devotion to be one in heart and one in mind with the Father. It is wrapped up in us
becoming desperate for Him and desperate for His ways – becoming completely His in our thoughts, our words, and our
love for Him.
“I love You with
every cell of my body, every facet of my mind, and every breath of my spirit! I devote all I am and all I have to You, because
I love You so very much. Make me of ONE mind and ONE heart with You.”
The Eyes of the Lord are roaming over the
whole earth. He is looking, His heart is searching for someone to whom He can show Himself strong on their
behalf, someone that He can manifest Himself to and through in all of His power and all of His Glory.
As you choose to be one whose heart is fully committed,
fully devoted to Him, you can life your voice to the Lord, in the same way as Hezekiah, and say –
“Lord, search no further, show
Yourself strong on my behalf – My ONE desire is to be of ONE
MIND and ONE HEART with You – Forever….
