Nothing is Too Hard for God

“O Sovereign Lord!  You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power.
Nothing is too hard for You!”  Jeremiah 32.17 NLT

When posed with the question – “Is anything too hard for God?” – most Christians will quickly affirm that there is nothing that is too difficult for God to do.   But in every day practice, do we really believe that God can do anything?  Often our responses to the circumstances and situations we face can tend to prove otherwise – but this should not be.

It is good and right to believe that nothing is too hard for God (for that is what His Word has said) – but it is even better to know with absolute assurance that nothing is too hard for Him in our life.

There is no problem, no circumstance we could present to the Lord that could be too great of a challenge for Him to deal with.  The Prophet Jeremiah declared: “Dear God, my Master, You created earth and sky by Your great power – by merely stretching out Your arm!  There is nothing You can’t do!”  (Jeremiah 32.17 MSG)

We each may face adverse circumstances or problems that seem too great to ever overcome – but if we will turn our eyes upon Jesus and rest our heart in the assurance that nothing is beyond Him, we can see every difficulty turned around.

The same Lord who created the heavens and the earth by merely stretching out His arm, is well able to deliver us out of every peril, every trial, every problem that has come or ever will come to our life.  Not only is He able, but He is also ready and willing to do it.

Nothing is too hard for God.  But how do we get Him to do what we need Him to do?  The answer is dependent not so much on the Lord as it is to the condition of our own heart.

God is able and ready to do for us – yet if the ground of our heart is not adequately prepared, we will not be able to embrace His help and deliverance.

Proverbs 4.20-27 instructs us how to keep our heart prepared to receive from the Lord:
“Pay attention, my child, to what I say.  Listen carefully.  Do not lose sight of My Words.  Let them penetrate deep within your heart, for they bring life and radiant health to anyone who discovers their meaning.  Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flows the springs (forces) of life.  Avoid all perverse talk; stay far from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.  Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe.  Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.”  (NLT/AMP)

For us to receive the changes, the turnarounds, and the breakthroughs from God that we seek, it is essential that we pay attention to the Word of God and not lose sight of His words.  We must allow them to penetrate deep within our heart, for in them lie our answers.  And we must, above all else, guard the content of our heart – because it is the production centre of our life and affects everything we do.

We should diligently avoid perverse and corrupt speech.  This is a very important instruction to take heed to.  We may not be in a habit of speaking profanity or cursing, but “perverse and corrupt speech” entails more than profanity.  Perverse speech refers to anything which contradicts or opposes what God has spoken, and it is not necessarily limited to only verbal communication.  Perverse and corrupt speech can take place both through oral talking and through thoughts in the mind.

There are probably more perverse and corrupt words which have been spoken within our mind than we have been aware of.  Such words in the mind are one of the most primary causes for us not receiving God’s promises for our life.

Perverse speech does not always originate from our heart.  It most often comes as words or images planted into the mind by satan in order to germinate doubt.  If we do not uproot and reject those evil words and images, they can begin to take root in our mind and heart, and alter what we believe.

There are definite and unchanging institutions which God has established through His Words.  Such establishments should never be questioned.  His Will is always healing – we should never question if it is His Will to heal and for us to walk in perfect health.  His Will is always prosperity – we should never wonder if He wants our needs to be met and for us to walk in abundance.  His Will is always wholeness and completeness – we should never doubt whether or not He wants our life to be whole, full of peace, and to have love and harmony in our relationships at all times.

As Proverbs 4 has urged us, we must look straight ahead, and fix our eyes on what lies before us – God’s Promise.  We must mark out a straight path for our feet; then stick to the path and stay safe – God’s Word is a Lamp to our feet and a Light to our path (Psalm 119.105).  We must not get sidetracked or drawn off course from God’s Word, and we should keep our feet from following evil (paths that differ in any way from God’s ultimate and best plan for our life).

No matter how impossible a situation may seem, we must refuse to doubt that God can and will turn it around for us when we trust Him and trust His Word.

“With God nothing is ever impossible, and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfilment.”  (Luke 1.37 AMP)

When God made the promise to Abraham that he would be father of many nations, it looked impossible.  Abraham and his wife were a childless couple and were far beyond the age to produce children.  His wife had been barren all her life.  Yet, God gave promise to Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. His offspring would come from one son of promise.  The promise seemed ridiculous at first, even to 100 year old Abraham and his wife.  But when God promises something, IT WILL COME TO PASS.

When Abraham’s wife laughed at the Word of the Lord that within one year she would give birth to a son, the Lord said to Abraham: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”  (Genesis 18.14)

Abraham chose to believe God rather than the impossibilities.  He did not focus on his circumstances and say “It is hopeless.”  He did not tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions.  He plunged into the promise of God and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good what He had said.  Abraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right (Romans 4 MSG).

No matter how much we may analyze, skepticize, or doubt the probability of God’s promise actually being fulfilled, IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE POWER OF THAT PROMISE TO COME TO PASS.    However, for us to get in on His promise, we must refuse to question or analyze the promise and simply take Him at His Word.   If He said it, it will come to pass.

The biggest challenge we face is not the ability to overcome what looks impossible and seems can never come to pass.  The biggest challenge we have is changing what we believe is possible.  When we can conquer the impossibility factor in our heart and mind, and become absolutely persuaded that nothing is too hard for God, the impossibilities will pale in comparison to God’s power and the circumstances will begin to fall in line with an ease that is beyond our own ability to bring about.

We must remember that nothing is too hard for God, and keep our trust in Him.  Abraham didn’t live on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do, but on the basis of what God said He would do (Romans 4.18 MSG).

Like Abraham, we must disregard what we see we can’t do, and choose instead to focus completely on what God said He would do.  He will not be unfaithful to His promise.  What He said, He will do.

It is time to lay aside all our doubts and inhibitions.  It is time to stop trying to figure out all the reasons why God’s promise can’t come to pass in our life.  It is time to stop second-guessing our own heart and what we have received from the Lord – and simply take Him at His Word.

He can heal every disease, He can meet every financial need, He can restore every relationship, He can bless and favour against all opposition, He can make the impossible possible – we just have to believe it.

Nothing is Too Hard for God… and nothing is too hard for us when we Believe Him.
