Let Love be Your Guide
“Do as God does. After all, you are His dear children. Let Love be your guide. Christ loved us and offered His life for us as a sacrifice that pleases God.” – Ephesians 5.1-2
Have you ever imitated anyone? Have you ever tried to be like someone – to talk like they talk, look like they look, or to act like them?
Well, in the word of God we are urged to be “imitators of God” (Ephesians 5.1). Imitating someone we have seen may not be so hard, but how can we imitate God?
Ephesians 5.1-2 tells us that to imitate God means to do as God does. Little children often like to imitate their parents, and try to be like them. In a similar way, we should imitate God – do as He does – for He is our Father and we are His dear children. One of the most important ways we can do as God does, is to let Love be our guide. Christ loved us and offered His life for us as a sacrifice that pleases God.
We can also offer our life as a sacrifice that pleases God, when we let Love be our guide in everything we do. How can we let Love be our guide? By doing the things that Love does, and not doing the things that Love does not do:
The way to let Love be our guide is by doing what Love does, and most of all, by doing the things that honour God.
I John 4.16 says that God is Love. When we let Love be our guide, we are letting God be our guide – for God is Love.
Even when things are going wrong, or someone insults us or treats us unfairly, if we will do and say only the things that come from Love, we will come out on top. Most of all, we will be pleasing to God in all we do.
If we will do as God does – live in love, live holy – we will obtain good things and many blessings in our life. Living according to Love keeps us in the plan of God and brings us into the destiny He has for our life.
The more we imitate God, the more that we will experience the good life that He has for us.
So, Let LOVE be your guide – always!

- Love is kind and considerate to others.
- Love honours the Lord and puts others interests above its own interests.
- Love is forgiving to others. Love does not hold grudges.
- Love is eager to help and serve others, instead of always expecting others to do all the work.
- Love never tells lies or repeats gossip about others.
- Love is never hateful and never says hurtful things to others or about other people.
- Love promotes good things and not bad things.
- Love is always watchful to bring peace in every situation, and to stand up for what is right and true.
- Love always seeks to bless and refresh the lives of others.
- Love always seeks to do what honours and pleases God.
