Knowing Him

"Because he has set his love upon Me, I will deliver Him.  I will set him on high because
he has KNOWN and LOVED My Name."
Psalm 91.14

There is no greater joy than knowing God intimately.  Consequently, there is also no substitute for it.

When you Know Him, you are literally connected with all knowledge and insight.   I John 2.20 says - "You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things."  The knowledge of all things comes from the anointing as you spend time intimately knowing the Holy One.

How can we  KNOW HIM intimately?

I John 2.3 & 3.23 tells us - "By this we know that we KNOW HIM, if we keep His commandments...   And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another as He gave us commandment."
We can be assured that we know Him when we keep His commandments - believing in the Name of Jesus and obeying the commandment of Love.  Our success in both areas originates in dwelling in God, in His presence.

In order to know Him intimately, you must spend time with Him.   It is impossible to know intimately someone with whom you never spend time.

God is omnipresent (present in all places at the same time) - but in order to know Him, we must choose to acknowledge His presence and live in it every moment of our life.  To know Him intimately, we must practice His presence.

Living in His presence does not always require spending hours every day shut in your prayer closet.  Quiet time with Him every day is very necessary, but learning to practice His presence in everything you do, everywhere you go throughout each day, is just as equally important. Both are vital requisites to knowing Him.

It's easy to let several minutes, or even hours, pass each day without even thinking of the Lord, much less invoking His help or friendship.  Why would we so neglect the One we love so much? Yet, that is exactly what we have done so many times.

We must fix our minds, fix our hearts, fix our love on God - and keep them there, being ready to pull them back in whenever they should stray from focus on Him.

In Jeremiah 24.7 - God said that He has given us a heart to know Him and to follow His ways.  And in John 15.15, Jesus said that He has not called us servants, but He has called us friends, because everything He has heard from the Father He makes known to us.

It is friends, not servants, who are granted the privilege of intimacy.  Jesus has made us His friends - therefore we can intimately know God.

"You have made known to me the ways of life;  You will make me full of joy in Your Presence." Acts 2.28

God will show you what to do, where to go and the ways that lead to good life when you know Him.

And He will make your joy full in His presence.  For anyone who will take the time and effort to know Him intimately, God will drench their life in more goodness than they could ever dream.

When you know and love Him intimately, the door is wide open to all knowledge, all direction, all love, all grace, all goodness - everything that makes for life as God knows it.

KNOW HIS MIND

"Who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? - But we have the mind of Christ." I Cor. 2.16

When we pursue intimacy with the Father, we come to know His very heart and mind.  We don't have to wonder what He wants - in intimacy with Him, we can become so one in heart and one in mind that His thoughts, His desires are what's coursing through our very own mind.   We have the mind of Christ!

KNOW HIS WILL

When you know His mind, you then know His will.  Eph. 1.9 says that in Him and through His grace, He makes known to us the mystery of His will -  Because He makes His will known to us, it is no longer a mystery. We can know His will intimately, just as we know Him intimately.

As we practice His presence, Eph. 1.17-18 tells us that He gives us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of God, flooding the eyes of our understanding with light so that we can know the hope and expectation of His calling and the riches of His glory. His deep and intimate knowledge comes as we intimately know Him.

KNOW HIS POWER

"For my determined purpose is that I may KNOW HIM and the POWER of His Resurrection."   Phil. 3.10

The quest of our life should be to know God as intimately as possible and also to intimately know His power.  We are told in Daniel 11.32, that "the people who KNOW THEIR GOD shall be strong and carry out GREAT EXPLOITS."

Those who KNOW HIM are the ones who will stand strong against the kingdom of darkness and do great feats for their God.   It is His mighty power at work within us enabling us to do the works of God - and it comes as direct result of PURSUING HIM and KNOWING HIM.

KNOW HIS GLORY

"To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ  IN YOU, the hope of glory."    Col. 1.27

Christ in you, THE HOPE (EXPECTATION) OF GLORY!   When Christ (the Anointed One) is in you, the GLORY is in you.   God will make known, and make alive and real in you the glory of this mystery as you pursue Him. He makes known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called.  (Romans 9.23-24)

Knowing His glory is knowing God's very essence.  The Prophet Ezekiel, in describing God's glory, said that He was a fire from the waist up and from the waist down - brightness of power and goodness from head to toe.    We were created in His own image - in that same glory - and the more we spend time with Him, the more we will be like Him in that glory.

KNOW HIS LOVE

"...that you may KNOW (have intimate knowing) of the Love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."   Eph. 3.19

It is God's desire for you to have intimate knowledge, intimate relationship with the Love of Christ - so that you can be filled with ALL the fullness of God.  Being filled with ALL God's fullness is being filled and immersed in intimately knowing His love.

The word for "know" in this verse means intimate intercourse.  So to know the Love of Christ means that you have relationship with that Love in the most intimate way possible - intimate intercourse and intermingling between His Love and you - to the point that the two of you become ONE.  That is intimacy at its highest level.

In that place of knowing His Love, there is no question to His goodness, His provision, His healing, His life, His restoration - You KNOW and you are filled with ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD - completion to the full in every area.

I John 4.16 says - "And we have KNOWN and BELIEVED the Love that God has for us. GOD IS LOVE, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him."

Not only must we know, but we must also BELIEVE His love.  When we live in that Love, we are living, dwelling in God and God is living, dwelling in us!  With such intimate intermingling taking place, we are made one substance with Him!  We are of the same Spirit!   That's what knowing Him, knowing His love is.  Nothing in this world compares to it - to be one with God, one with His love.

When knowing Him and loving Him takes over your life, God is able to pour Himself, pour His love all over you like He has desired to do from the very beginning.

He loves you far more than you could ever realize with your finite mind.  And He has given His life and everything He has just so He could be with you.  We can only fully grasp the depth of His Love as we pursue to know and love Him intimately.

In the 91st Psalm, God said - "Because he has set his love upon Me, I will deliver him. I will set him on high because he has KNOWN and LOVED My Name."     (v. 14)

The God who loves you so much will lift you up and set you on high - lavish all Life and Goodness upon you - because you KNOW HIM and LOVE HIM  intimately.

The Best of Life is reserved only for those who pursue intimacy with Him.  No other life compares to one spent in His presence.   Actually, no other life exists - this is the only Real Life - God's Life.

So set your mind, set your heart, set your life, set your Love on Him.

And let your determined purpose be

                                           KNOWING HIM
                                                  intimately.
